Spelling Bee Success: Celebrating Confidence, Courage, and Communication

A Showcase of Learning and Determination

At Ashwood Glen, every opportunity to learn is also an opportunity to grow. Our annual Spelling Bee brought students together for a friendly and exciting competition that celebrated not only spelling skills but also confidence, perseverance, and the courage to step outside their comfort zones.

From the first round to the final word, students demonstrated remarkable focus, determination, and resilience, making this year’s event a memorable celebration of learning.

Building Skills Beyond Spelling

Preparing for the Spelling Bee involved much more than memorizing words. Students dedicated time to expanding their vocabulary, strengthening their language skills, and developing strategies to remain calm and focused under pressure.

As they progressed through each round, participants showed persistence and determination, embracing challenges as opportunities to learn and improve.

Whether spelling on stage or cheering on classmates from the audience, every student played an important role in creating an encouraging and supportive environment.

The IB Learner Profile in Action

The Spelling Bee was a wonderful reflection of the values we nurture through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme.

Throughout the competition, students demonstrated the IB Learner Profile by becoming:

Communicators – Speaking clearly, listening attentively, and expressing themselves with confidence before an audience.

Risk-Takers – Stepping onto the stage with courage, embracing new challenges, and giving their very best, regardless of the outcome.

Reflective – Learning from each experience and recognizing that growth comes through practice and perseverance.

Caring – Supporting classmates with encouragement, respect, and good sportsmanship throughout the event.

These attributes are just as important as academic achievement, helping students develop confidence that extends far beyond the classroom.

Celebrating Every Participant

While the competition recognized outstanding spelling abilities, the true success of the event was the willingness of every participant to challenge themselves.

Each student who stood before their peers demonstrated resilience, preparation, and a commitment to personal growth. Their courage to participate and perseverance throughout the competition are accomplishments worth celebrating.

Congratulations to Our Students

We are incredibly proud of every student who took part in this year’s Spelling Bee. Your hard work, dedication, and positive attitude made the event an inspiring example of what it means to be an Ashwood Glen learner.

Congratulations to all of our participants, and thank you to our educators and families for supporting our students throughout their preparation.

At Ashwood Glen, every challenge is an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen character, and celebrate learning.

Inspire. Empower. Excel.
