Ashwood Glen School joins Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail as Audience Choice Award Sponsor
Ashwood Glen School is proud to sponsor the Audience Choice Award on the 2026 Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail, supporting a city-wide celebration of art, creativity, and community.
Presented by the Dan Lawrie International Sculpture Collection, the exhibition runs from April 11 to May 31, 2026, transforming Burlington’s waterfront and downtown into an open-air gallery accessible to all.
Featuring artists from across Canada, the Sculpture Trail invites visitors to explore how art interacts with space, environment, and community. This experience aligns closely with Ashwood Glen’s approach to learning through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Learning beyond the classroom
At Ashwood Glen, we believe that meaningful learning happens when students engage with the world around them.
Through the IB framework, students are encouraged to ask questions, think critically, and make connections between their learning and real-life experiences.
The Sculpture Trail offers a natural extension of this philosophy.
Students can explore:
- how artists communicate ideas through form, material, and design
- how public art shapes community spaces
- how creativity can inspire reflection and dialogue
These experiences support the development of the IB Learner Profile, fostering students who are:
- Inquirers, exploring the world with curiosity
- Thinkers, analyzing and interpreting meaning
- Communicators, expressing ideas and perspectives
- Open-minded, appreciating diverse forms of expression
- Reflective, considering the impact of art and ideas
Supporting creativity and community
As the Audience Choice Award Sponsor, Ashwood Glen is proud to support community participation in the arts.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors are invited to vote for their favourite sculpture, encouraging engagement, reflection, and personal connection to the artwork.
This element of choice reflects an important aspect of IB learning — empowering individuals to form their own perspectives and voice their ideas.
A shared commitment to inquiry and creativity
Ashwood Glen’s participation in the Burlington Waterfront Sculpture Trail reflects our commitment to:
- inquiry-based learning
- creativity and the arts
- community engagement
- real-world learning experiences
We invite families and community members to explore the Sculpture Trail, engage with the artwork, and experience how creativity and learning come together in meaningful ways.
